Our History with Accessibility

Accessible websites provide equal access and equal opportunity.

According to the Web Accessibility Initiative (www.w3c.org), accessibility means that "people with disabilities can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with the Web, and that they can contribute to the Web". That includes elder users with difficulties with hearing and vision that do not quite fit into the description of being "disabled".

Let'sGoEXPO has a very unique history. We built our system to assist the low vision and blindness industry by making information about products and services available to individuals who may never be able to attend a tradeshow or conference. Basically our goal was to "bring the event to the individual, instead of the individual to the event." Our initial testing was extremely successful, and we began our path of developing a suite of online products that are accessible to both attendees (front end) as well as organizers (back-end management) of online events.

A major benefit of building accessible websites or applications is that those same sites or applications are usually very usable by individuals without disabilities, decreasing the learning curve in using those sites or applications. We found this to be true, and as a result more than 80% of our corporate clients are not from the disability industry, but from companies that simply want a feature rich set of products, and government and education clients who require their online tools to be accessible (Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act).

We've gone to great pains to make our system as accessible to individuals with all forms of disability. However, there is always room for improvement. We have a very long list of enhancements to make our service even better. We intend to give our clients all the tools required for a top-notch, accessible media presence. For example, we have plans for an enhanced video player, captioning resources, a more accessible html editing tool, and more.
